Day 2 (July 7, 2001) This stream takes as its focus the debates surrounding identity formation, subjectivities, regulation and resistance. These will be explored within the substantive fields of popular music and popular culture. Issues of sexuality, gender, race, class, age, disability, religion, ethnicity and so on will be central to examining the cultural practice of both production and consumption in popular music, to include changing lifestyles and the role of popular music in the generation of new forms of social and political space. |
